OUR STORY

Generations of Tradition with a Passion

Growing up with so many amazing animals was a privilege, one that I wasn't fully aware of as a child.  I loved every cat, dog, horse and cow on my grandparent's farm, but it wasn't until we brought home our first shorthair that I learned what it's like to love and be loved by a four-legged family member.  My dad began hunting alongside his father as a young boy, and had the opportunity to hunt with many different breeds of dogs.  He always loved dogs and had an interest in training, but it wasn't until our first Shorthair, Sadie, that he realized what an extraordinary breed this is.  From there, passion fueled a purpose that continues today.

OUR GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTERS

We brought home our first shorthair, Sadie, in 1994 and never looked back.  Sadie was the matriarch and the first of many dogs that could truly do it all.  Loyal, trustworthy companions that visited schools and nursing homes, beautifully built for the show ring, and a no-quit drive in the field, water, and woods.  This breed is simply stunning and remarkable in the way they adapt to all types of hunting, family life, and service work. Our dogs have exemplified the remarkable characteristics of the breed through every generation.  Imagining a life without our German Shorthaired Pointers is like seeing the world without color; maybe you can't miss what you don't know, but once you are surrounded by the vibrancy nothing compares.

OUR STORY: CURRENT DAY

My husband, Paul, continues the tradition of hunting and training German Shorthaired Pointers with my dad.  Iowa and Northern Michigan have provided many opportunities for great bird hunting along with great times spent with family and friends.  Our family currently includes one wonderful shorthair; Cora.  She is a beautiful, sweet companion in our home who really lights up the field.
